We are starting to use Accelerated Reader in our classroom. Accelerated Reader is a computer based program that tests students’ comprehension. Students read an accelerated reader story and then take a five question quiz in our classroom. Each quiz is usually worth 0.5 points. For every 1 point a student earns, they get a ribbon on the Accelerated Reader Wall of Fame and a prize from the library.
Students can read the story themselves or have the story read to them. Accelerated reader books are marked with a tag on the book binding if they are from the library. In our classroom, books are labeled with blue or grey tape on the binding and are labeled in the inside cover. Happy Reading!
