Reading Log: We ask that your child reads at least 5 books aloud each week to someone in your home. Please record your books on the Book Log in their ziplock book bags and return them to school when finished. I will keep track of how many books your child reads. Any reading material (paperback books, TFKids, poems, etc) may be counted.
Monthly Reading Log: We realize how important it is for you to read to your child. Each month we ask that you record the books you read to your child on the monthly book log. Return this to me at the end of the month and your child will earn a prize.
High Frequency Words: Each week we will focus on high-frequency words from our story. There will be a list sent home and the students will be tested on their ability to read these words on Thursday. If they miss any, a note will be sent home and they will be retested on Friday.
Spelling Words: Beginning around mid-October, we will begin our spelling tests. We will have a pretest on Friday before students are taught word patterns so I can assess their prior knowledge. We will have a final test for a grade on the following Thursday.
Math Links: Students will have a Home Link to complete after we finish a lesson in our Math Books. These should not take more than a few minutes to complete and are meant to reinforce concepts taught during the day and be a bridge between home and school. Please return these the following school day.
